30/11/2017 - Until 29th January 2018, the ADAM- Brussels Design Museum has the pleasure to host the exhibition 'A Tribute to Componibili', realized in collaboration with the Kartell Museo (Milan - Italy).

A Tribute to Componibili celebrate the 50th Anniversary of the Componibili, a new type of furniture designed in 1967 by Anna Castelli Ferrieri. The exhibition tells the story of Componibili from an emotional viewpoint, to recount the way in which Componibili modular furniture interpreted interior design and encountered new tasted in contemporary living trends from the ’60 to date.

To complete the exhibition, designers as Ron Arad, Mario Bellini, Antonio Citterio, Ferruccio Laviani, Piero Lissoni, Alberto Meda, Alessandro Mendini, Nendo, Fabio Novembre, Philippe Starck, Patricia Urquiola, Tokujin Yoshioka, and Emilio Pucci, Missoni, Xavier Lust Unfold and Muller Van Severen will present their own personal interpretation of the Componibili.

Anna Castelli Ferrieri was able to understand, often before her male colleagues, the living needs of her times and she responded with very functional products such as the Componibil i, which bore out that concept of modularity and became a leitmotif lasting down through the following decades. Far from the traditional furniture intended for certain specific environments with clearly defined functions (such as the sideboard, the night table or the commode), Componibili fit into any context and met the living needs of young people in the 1960s.

“The anniversary of Componibili by Anna Castelli Ferrieri is a truly special event, that brings with it many meanings, both because it tells the story of the origins and roots of Kartell, and because it has marked an absolute innovation in the history of design, becoming an icon of industrial production – says Claudio Luti, President of Kartell. Componibili are, for me, a family “object”, they have always been a part of my “living”, and when I arrived in Kartell, I immediately wanted to give this product an iconic role recognised by the market and the critics of international design who wanted it in all of the museums of the world. With “Tribute to Componibili. 50th Anniversary” we want to offer a true emotional narration, which tells of the evolutions of the product, and how it has been capable of understanding interior design and to meet immediate meet the new contemporary taste of living”.
